Government to grant permission for pubs and restaurants to operate as takeaways

The Government is to grant permission for pubs and restaurants to operate as takeaways as part of coronavirus response

Planning rules will be relaxed so pubs and restaurants can operate as hot food takeaways during the coronavirus outbreak.

Relaxation of planning measures will be introduced as soon as possible and will apply for a limited period. Currently planning permission is required for businesses to carry out this change

The government has confirmed the relaxations to planning rules will be put in place as soon as possible to provide reassurance to businesses and enable them to start providing takeaways to people quickly.

Coronavirus UK Community Support

Crowborough Town Council is asking for all local support centres and businesses that are open and can help people during the measures introduced by the Government to contact them as they are building a list of these amenities on their website. Details are pinned to the top of their website HERE

The Town Council and Chamber will also be liaising throughout this situation to try and connect those in need with those who can help.

Girls Network

The Girls' Network works with corporate organisations to create bespoke and mutually beneficial partnerships, with the ultimate aim of securing unlimited futures for all young women. Crowborough Branch Royal British Legion is once again organizing an Armed Forces Day event at Crowborough Social Club and is looking for sponsors.  It is estimated that the whole event will cost in the region of £1,000 and the Legion is looking for a number of sponsors to contribute.  In return, your company will be on posters and fliers including social media and local press.

Chamber Member Angela Ward Running The Brighton Marathon

Chamber member Angela Ward from Angela Ward Media is running the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 19 April 2020 in memory of her daughter, Naomi, who would have been 21 next year. Naomi died from the childhood cancer Neuroblastoma on 1 January 2004, less than a month after her 4th birthday, so Angela has decided to raise money for the charity Neuroblastoma UK, which is doing a huge amount to fund vital research, raise awareness and care for families.

Open Doors Workplace Project

Open Doors is a workplace based project run by East Sussex County Council and supported by Skills East Sussex. School pupils across East Sussex are given the chance to visit workplaces and hear from employers about the range of jobs that you offer, and the career paths into them.

This gives pupils essential knowledge and experience to shape their own futures and provides employers with the opportunity to engage with young people who could form their future workforce. Businesses have offered apprenticeships, work experience placements, and built relationships with local schools.
